How to check your Sound Card’s recording capabilities.

It is strongly recommended to check your Sound Cards recording functionality before running Fonty, especially before running Fonty’s Microphone Wizard.

First and foremost, make sure that the headset is plugged in correctly: Microphone into the input socket and Speakers into output socket.
You can consult your hardware vendor for the right place of the input and output sockets.

Using “Microsoft ® Sound Recorder”

Sound Recorder is a standard software that is installed as part of Windows (unless specifically removed from it).
Launch Sound Recorder via the “Start – All Programs – Accessories – Entertainment – Sound Recorder”.See picture below for assistance:

The Sound Recorder application will open:

Put your headset on; make sure that the microphone tip is placed in front of your mouth.
Click the red recording button, and say the following sentence:

“I’m trying to record my sound”.
Then click the black “stop” button:

While recording your speech, the line should show signals like this:

Now press the rectangular “Play” button to hear your recording.

If during recording, the line remains flat (no signal appears), or shows very “small” signals, and then during playback you do not hear your recording, or hear a “static noise” instead – there is a problem with your recording settings.

If you have a different microphone, plug it instead of Fonty’s Headset and retry the above procedure.
If the recording works, it means you have a faulty Fonty Headset.
In this case request a new Headset from your Fonty vendor.
If when using a different microphone, no sound is being recorded, proceed to the following steps.

NOTE: You can operate Fonty only when you are able to record your voice, and hear its playback loud and clear and without background noise.Very silent recordings or background noise indicate that your current Sound Card settings will not allow proper operation of Fonty.
